A website everyone
can use.

We want every visitor to be able to read this site, find what they need and get in touch, whatever device or assistive technology they use.

Our target

We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That covers things like text contrast, keyboard use, clear headings and labels, and pages that work with screen readers and when zoomed.

This is a target, not a claim that every page meets it today. The gaps we know about are listed below.

How we check

Automated checks on every build

Every version of the site passes a set of automated checks before it can be published. They check that:

  • every page declares its language (Australian English);
  • every page has exactly one main heading, its own title and its own description;
  • every link to another page on this site goes somewhere that exists.

Automated checks catch only some problems. They do not yet check colour contrast, image descriptions or form labels.

Manual checks

Checks by hand are planned before launch: using the site with a keyboard alone, and with a screen reader, on desktop and mobile.

Known gaps

This site is new and still being built. We know about these gaps:

  • The manual keyboard and screen-reader checks above have not yet been completed for every page.
  • Colour contrast, image descriptions and form labels are not yet checked automatically.
  • The instant quote and right-fit forms have not yet been checked against WCAG 2.2 AA. This is scheduled.

We will update this list as gaps are fixed.
